Art is everywhere we look. Photogaphy helps me capture it

A beautiful set of senior portraits with the lovely Kellee. We hit some of the hot spots in Rochester Michigan. It’s always a good time when friends and family can join in the fun and jump in a few photos as well. She even got to get some photos in an amazing sparkly vintage dress that belonged to her grandmother when she was a young lady. I feel privileged that I got to capture these memories for them.

Just one of the great baptism moments from today. Loved seeing all the Celebrate Recovery folks up there too. Amazing stories shared. Easily one of my favorite events to shoot during the year. @kensingtonchurch

You don’t always have to travel far for a fun photo op.

I once heard someone say that “your backyard is someone else’s dream location”. I couldn’t agree more, and have always been able to find new things to shoot in my backyard. What might seem boring and plain to us is exciting and filled with new possibilities for someone across the world.

Tonight I watched my 3yr old son playing with his bubble blowing toy and noticed that the bubbles piled up on the grass in some very cool patterns. So of course I grabbed the camera and the bubble gun and took advantage of a free 5 min in the backyard during “magic hour” (perfect light for photographers). Shooting with my Nikon D800 and Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro lens here are a few shots I was able to get.

Try it sometime, look at the boring everyday stuff around you and try to see something new and exciting. It doesn’t have to be groundbreaking but you will always learn something new… every time!

Hope you enjoy.

Architecture and People, these are a few of my favorite things. So its always great when the 2 combine on a photoshoot.

This is one of my great clients; John Tagle & Associates Inc. (architecture firm) in Troy, MI. I have been shooting for them the past 2 years and have had the privilege of capturing their amazing designs that have come to life around the Metro Detroit Area. Always a pleasure to work with such great and professional people.

This was from a recent shoot I did for them, to capture the team and the newly designed office space. The new remodel looks great and the team doesn’t look so bad either :)

Enjoy your day and thanks for looking!

Unique Firework photos from Metro Detroit.

Got to play around a bit on 4th of July weekend with some different techniques in firework photography (expanding on last years samples). These are all “in-camera” photos. This look is achieved by using a wide aperture and a longer shutter speed, while the shutter is open you take the lens from out of focus to in focus smoothly and quickly. Fun stuff and a nice change of pace from the typical firework photography (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Play around, Share & Enjoy!

A study of strawberries with window light.

Playing in the “studio”, challenging myself to work with only available light but to make “usable art”. These were taken during “magic hour” at my dinner table in front of the window. Only controlling the setting in my camera and using a piece of paper to bounce light to achieve these images. If you have time, grab any object and start playing around.

The great and exciting thing about photography is that you are constantly learning and refining your skills.

Helpful Tip: You don’t always need fancy lighting gear to get the shot you want. #BCPbehindthescenes

Nigerian fashions.
I had the pleasure of shooting photos for a fashion show here in #Detroit with a great young designer. JI Fashions. Her market is creating unique but classic African clothing for ladies and men here in America. Evening gowns for special events, or when you just want to stand out at an event. She is creating items with authentic fabrics and current style of Nigeria that you just can’t easily get here in America.
